Jennifer Jao was born in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. During CMPC time, she participated in the planning, production, distribution, and marketing. She was also the executive secretary of CMPC Cultural and Educational Foundation and the deputy secretary-general of Asia-Pacific Film Festival. She has had more than 20 years of experience in film industry and has participated in more than 65 feature films with CMPC.
From February 2008 till today, she is the Director of Taipei Film Commission (TFC), which assists with pre-production location scouting and facilitates in connecting the local film industry resources with strong international developments in areas of international co-productions and international film festival/market participation. TFC has been building strong networks through international collaboration. Films like Ang Lee’s《Life of Pi》, Luc Besson ‘s《Lucy, John Woo’s《The Crossing》and Martin Scorsese ‘s《Silence》, all were shot in Taipei.
From 2013 to 2014, JAO planned and produced of 《Taipei Factory I》selected by Cannes Film Festival and 《Taipei Factory II》 selected by Venice International Film Festival.
From 2014 to 2016, she founded Taipei Film Academy (TFA) which brings world-renowned Masters and professionals from film industry around the world to Taipei. TFA consists of professional film workshops and forums aimed at nourishing the potentials and talents of film industry with exclusive knowledge to practical filmmaking from domestic to international.
Currently, she also serves as a board member of Motion Picture Development Foundation, R.O.C., Director of Taiwan Film & Culture Association and Taiwan Original Filmmakers Union, as well as advisor to Taipei Film and Drama Union.
